The ECNY Awards, New York’s original comedy awards celebrated the absolute best in New York comedy tonight during a standing room only
reception at The 92Y Tribeca in New York City. Through rapturous applause and laughter, eighteen awards were presented to the most
hilarious and hard-working comedians in New York City today. Afterwards, people had drinks, and then they went home and went to
sleep. The next morning, most of them woke up.

“We couldn’t be more proud of the winners,” said ECNY producer Carol Hartsell. “With a record number of people voting online, coupled with
our industry committee votes, we made sure that the absolute best comedians working in New York were honored tonight with an award shaped like a laughing donkey. You know, real classy like.”

Award), Snakes (Best Comedic Musical Act), Morgan Murphy (Best Female Stand-Up Comedian), and Hannibal Buress (Best Male Stand-Up Comedian).

They were joined by Andrew WK, Eliot Glazer, Livia Scott, Chelsea White, The Moon, Mark Normand, David Cope, and Bobby Tisdale.

There were performances throughout the night by the musical nominees:
Grease 3: Threase, Stuckey & Murray, Ben Lerman, and Adira Amram & The Experience.

Videos were created for the show by The Moon Show. Winners were escorted on and off stage by ECNY Girl Katherine Bryant Flaherty. And
there was a lot of tweeting and stuff.

Winners were selected by combining a public voting process, and voting by a committee composed of industry professionals.

The Awards, a mainstay of the New York comedy scene, returned in 2007 with a completely revamped production team, after an almost two year hiatus. After sold out ceremonies the last two years, The ECNYs continue to celebrate the comedic performing arts in New York City by
honoring the best, funniest, and most creative performers, shows, and producers working in the field.

7th ANNUAL ECNY NOMINEES ANNOUNCED AWARDS WILL CELEBRATE THE COMEDIC PERFORMING ARTS IN
NEW YORK CITY ON MARCH 14TH

New York, Feb. 10, 2011 – The ECNY Awards, New York’s original comedy awards, are honored to announce the nominees for the 7th Annual Awards. Voting is now open to the general public at ECNYawards.com, and winners will be announced at the 7th Annual ECNY Awards ceremony, held March 14, 2011, at 8:30PM; at 92Y Tribeca, 200 Hudson Street. The ceremony will be hosted for the fourth year in a row by Jon Friedman (The Rejection Show).

“Our Selection Committee has once again delivered a fantastic list of comedians working at the top of their field,” said ECNY producer Kambri Crews. “That field, of course, being farming.”

Nominees were selected after a public nomination process, and voting by a committee composed of industry professionals. The nominees were announced live on SiriusXM Radio’s Raw Dog Comedy, Sirius channel 104 and XM channel 150, by on-air host Mark Says Hi, and simultaneously on YouTube and Twitter by ECNY Producer Kambri Crews. FOUR NEW CATEGORIES ADDED, INCLUDING BEST PODCAST AND BEST STORYTELLER
 
New York, Nov. 24, 2010 – The ECNY Awards, New York’s original comedy awards, are now open for nominations at ECNYAwards.com. Nominations will be accepted until Midnight on Friday, December 17th, 2010. Nominees will be announced in February, 2011 and winners will be announced at the 7th Annual ECNY Awards ceremony, held March 14, 2011, at 8:30PM; at 92Y Tribeca, 200 Hudson Street. The ceremony will be hosted for the fourth year in a row by Jon Friedman (Late Night With Jimmy Fallon).
 
“We’re proud to once again celebrate excellence in the comedic performing arts in New York City,” said ECNY producer Carol Hartsell. “…And we finally figured out what the acronym stands for, so stop bothering us.”
 
The acronym now stands for “Excellence in Comedy, New York City.” So stop bothering us.
 
Groups or individuals are eligible for nomination in nineteen different categories, including the following returning awards: Best Female Stand-Up Comedian; Best Male Stand-Up Comedian; Best Sketch Comedy Group; Best Host; Best Improv Group; Best Musical Comedy Act (Solo or Group); Best One Person Show; Best Comedic Video (Short or Series); Best Variety Show; Best Website; Best Book; Best Technician; Best Flyer or Postcard Design; The Emerging Comic Award; Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Tweeting.
 
In addition, we’re pleased to announce four new categories for 2011: Best Podcast; Best Comedy Event; Best Storyteller; and Best New Category.
 
Nominees must meet the following criteria:
 
-   Nominees must have performed, or done the majority of their work in New York from November, 2009, to November, 2010.
-   Nominees must have resided in the New York area for the majority of that time period.

In addition, The ECNYs will be giving out a Lifetime Achievement Award to one comedian/group/institution who has done the most over the course of his/her/their/its lifetime for the perpetuation and growth of New York comedy.
