6TH ANNUAL ECNY AWARDS WINNERS ANNOUNCED
New York, March 9, 2010 – The ECNY Awards, New York’s original comedy awards celebrated the absolute best in New York comedy last night during a standing room only reception at Comix comedy club in New York City. Through rapturous applause and laughter, fifteen awards were presented to the most hilarious and hard-working comedians in New York City today. Afterwards, people had drinks, and then they went home and went to sleep. The next morning, most of them woke up.
“We couldn’t be more proud of the winners,” said ECNY producer Alex Goldberg. “With over 5,000 people voting online, coupled with our industry committee votes, we made sure that the absolute best comedians working in New York were honored with the most prestigious award imaginable: a mention in a press release about the ECNYs.”

The awards were hosted by Jon Friedman (Late Night With Jimmy Fallon), with awards presented by past winners Kurt Braunohler (BBC’s Penelope Princess of Pets), Sara Benincasa (Sirius), Leo Allen (SNL), Pat Baer (UCB Theatre), Reggie Watts, Kumail Nanjiani (Michael and Michael Have Issues), and Michelle Collins (BWE.tv). They were joined by Keith and the Girl, Joe Garden & John Harris (The Onion), Michael Musto (The Village Voice), Nick Turner & Jesse Pop, Andrew WK, and Michael Ian Black (The State).
There were performances throughout the night by the musical nominees: Adira Amram, Snakes, Shayna Ferm, Stuckey and Murray, and Mindy Raf (as Leibya Rogers).
Videos were created for the show by Chelsea White, and ECNY Girl Katherine Bryant Flaherty was outfitted in a dress provided by Caroline Herrera, because we’re super classy.
Winners were selected by combining a public voting process, and voting by a committee composed of industry professionals.
The ECNY Awards are produced by Alex Goldberg (Fearsome), Jon Friedman (The Rejection Show), Carol Hartsell (Drink at Work), Nate Sloan (The Apiary), and Alex Zalben (Elephant Larry).
