New York, Jan. 29, 2008 - The ECNY Awards, New York's original comedy awards, celebrated the absolute best in New York comedy during a standing room only reception at Comix. Through rapturous applause and laughter, sixteen awards were presented to the most hilarious and hard-working comedians in New York City today. This was followed by those same comedians getting totally wasted at an after-party that ran well into the next morning.
"We couldn't be more proud of the winners," said ECNY producer Alex Goldberg. "Over 5000 people voted online, coupled with our industry committee votes, making sure this was the fairest ECNYs ever. These winners truly represent the best New York, and the world, has to offer. Also, the show ran just a little over two hours. Take that, Oscars!"

His influence continues to be felt throughout the comedy scene, helping younger comics reach their potential, and remaining one of the most respected comedians working here and abroad.
The awards were hosted by Jon Friedman, with awards presented by past winners Heather Lawless, Sara Schaefer, Timmy Williams, Sam Brown & Trevor Moore, and Jessica Delfino. They were joined by Andrew W.K., Andres DuBouchet, Bobby Tisdale, Stuckey & Murray, Brooke Van Poppelen, and Joselyn Hughes.
